There are many truths in this world. One is that people love smartphones and apps. In fact, according to Apple, 130 billion apps have been download from its App Store as of June 2016 (1). Some apps are helpful. Some just take up valuable hard drive space. Some are capable of improving your health. A recent study demonstrated that apps can help with weight loss and improving healthy behaviors (2).
In lieu of the widespread popularity of apps and studies demonstrating their potential health benefits, I created a list of apps that I feel are particularly useful. The most helpful are the food trackers and exercise apps (especially for people who workout at home). Several dietitians and personal trainers helped me curate this list.
This is pretty much the same list that we give to our patients in our weight management clinic. Enjoy!
